Free lifeguard training at YK Fitness Center (leads to lifeguard jobs)

The YK Fitness Center offers free American Red Cross lifeguard courses (Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, First Aid) a few times a year: some online coursework, then in-person pool days. You must be at least 15, pass a pre-course swim test (150-yard swim, 2-minute tread, timed brick retrieval from 7 ft) and attend every class. Certified lifeguards can apply to work at the center; working lifeguards also get a $100 bonus for every 10 shifts from the YK Delta Lifesavers (up to one check a month).
