Kobuk 440 Sled Dog Race

The Kobuk 440 Racing Association, a Kotzebue-based nonprofit, hosts the annual Kobuk 440 mid-distance sled dog race (a roughly 440-mile circuit from Kotzebue to Kobuk and back), plus the shorter Taaqpak 120 and Junior Races for youth. The race typically runs in early April; the 2027 race opens for musher entries December 1, 2026. The Association also runs a volunteer sign-up and a Buy-a-Mile fundraising program.
