Summer barge freight — Alaska Marine Lines (Lynden) booking, April–October season; Bowhead Transport

Heavy freight — vehicles, lumber, fuel tanks, appliances by the pallet — comes north on the summer barge. Alaska Marine Lines (a Lynden company) runs the seasonal Western Alaska/Arctic service (roughly April–October, before freeze-up) to Utqiaġvik, Wainwright, Point Hope, Point Lay, Kaktovik and Prudhoe Bay: get a quote and book at lynden.com/aml or call 800-426-3113, cswakhi@lynden.com; every shipment gets EZ Commerce tracking. Bowhead Transport (a UIC company) also runs Arctic barge and lightering service — 907-677-8219. Order early: the Utqiaġvik sailing is usually once or twice a summer and cut-off dates are announced in spring.
